9%<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thats how many <\/p>\n\n\n\n

American teens<\/p>\n\n\n\n

identify<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As LGBTQ<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s another number as well<\/p>\n\n\n\n

68<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sixty-eight percent of LGBTQ teens are out to their parents<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What about the other 32%?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why are 32% of LGBTQ teens<\/p>\n\n\n\n

afraid <\/p>\n\n\n\n

to tell their parents<\/p>\n\n\n\n

the very people who brought them into existence<\/p>\n\n\n\n

about a crucial part of themselves?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why <\/p>\n\n\n\n

are 32% of these beautiful children <\/p>\n\n\n\n

so afraid of <\/p>\n\n\n\n

harsh judgement<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Insults<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 and abuse from their parents<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

that they hide their identity?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why can\u2019t those parents<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Find<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Somewhere in their hearts<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enough love for their child?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For every piece of him\/her\/them<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every crooked crack and crevice<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every beautiful, unique, amazing part<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of their perfect<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-yes, I said perfect-<\/p>\n\n\n\n

offspring<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We may look<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or act<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or love<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Differently than they do<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But why<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why must we all be the same?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why can\u2019t we be<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beautifully<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perfectly<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L<\/p>\n\n\n\n

G<\/p>\n\n\n\n

B<\/p>\n\n\n\n

T<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is being ourselves so <\/p>\n\n\n\n

wrong <\/p>\n\n\n\n

that we must hide it from our parents?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 not<\/strong>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

impossible to love your own child<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Although they might seem strange in your eyes- It <\/p>\n\n\n\n

should<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

not be hard to love your child<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even if they are different than you<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is the love of a parent not supposed to be unconditional?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aren\u2019t parents supposed to love you<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No matter what?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is our very existence<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Such a problem<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That millions of parents<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hate their children<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As much as if they committed murder?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What will the world become<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we cannot rely on the love of a parent?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What has<\/strong> the world become<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That 32% <\/p>\n\n\n\n

of LGBTQ teens<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Feel their parents<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will not love them<\/p>\n\n\n\n
