The Monster<\/span><\/p>\n

Wayland is a generally wealthy, comfortable, quiet town, but everything is about to change. The schools, the environment, the peace…it won\u2019t be the same again—ever. <\/span><\/p>\n

On Route 20, a 4-story building is being built. But this isn\u2019t just any building, this is an apartment building. It will replace Mahoney\u2019s (who have already moved out). It will have 49 units, which is great for realtors and other people, but for the residents of Wayland, not so much. The people of Wayland refer to this building as \u201cThe Monster.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Monster provides opportunities for children to come live in Wayland and get a chance for a good education. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u201cI believe that more affordable housing could enhance Wayland as a community,\u201d wrote Naomi Lathan of <\/span>The Wayland Student Press<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Not only will it do that, it will also dump more than 20,000 pounds of sewage into Pine Brook. <\/span><\/p>\n

There has been a drought in Wayland these past years. Fortunately, Wayland is a small community. Unfortunately, The Monster will bring more people to Wayland, and we will run out of the little water we have.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lastly, The Monster will create more traffic. There are already many restaurants and stores around where the apartment will soon be. <\/span><\/p>\n

Wayland resident Charles D\u2019Ambrosio is opposed to the project. He wrote in a column on the <\/span>Boston Globe,<\/span><\/i> \u201c<\/span>Dropping a playing field and a parking lot into this setting, with its concomitant increase in traffic, congestion, noise, and litter, will drastically change the neighborhood character, make it less safe, and interfere with the resident\u2019s quiet enjoyment of the pastoral setting where they chose to live.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
