Many experts believe the former Clemson QB will be drafted first in the NFL draft. Lawrence is 6 foot 6 and 213 pounds. He has a 31 and a half inch arm and a 10 inch hand. The junior from Cartersville, Georgia broke Deshaun Watson’s high school career passing yards and passing touchdowns records. With 13,908 yards of passes and 161 passing touchdowns. Lawrence won two state titles as a starter. In Lawrence’s last year at Cartersville High School he was named the USA Today National Player of the Year. Surprisingly, Lawrence grew up 20 miles from another highly recognized draft prospect, Justin Fields. They were the top two recruits in the class of 2018. Lawrence cracked the Clemson starting line up as a true freshman, starting in 11 of 15 games for the Tigers. Lawrence earned ACC Rookie of the Year and Second-Team All-Conference honors. He also led the Tigers to Undefeated National Champions. Lawrence was a Manning Award Finalist in 2018, completing 65.2 percent of his passes. He only had 4 interceptions! In 2019, Lawrence and Clemson fell just short in the National Championship to LSU. That was Lawrence’s 1st loss of his college career. He was a finalist for the Sullivan Award which goes to the nation’s top amateur athlete. Lawrence also got First-Team All-ACC honors. In 2019, Lawrence completed 65.8 percent of his passes with 8 interceptions. In 2020, Lawrence’s 2nd seeded Tigers lost in the semifinals to the 3rd seeded Ohio State Buckeyes. Although, Lawrence had his best season yet with a 69.2 completion rate. Lawrence was a finalist for the Heisman, Walter Camp, and Davey O’Brien Awards. Lawrence missed 2 games in 2020 after testing positive for COVID-19. Lawrence then decided to hold his Pro Day on February 12, rather than a month later at Clemson’s Pro Day. That gave him more time to recover from a surgery he was getting on his left shoulder labrum. He does not throw with that shoulder. Let’s see when Lawrence’s name gets called. I know it will be early!
