Pros And Cons

Swimming is a popular sport that a lot of people enjoy. Some people do it because it is refreshing and it is good exercise. Other people do it to compete, while some swim in a pool, at a lake, or at the beach for fun. Many people like it, but a few think it is a waste of time. Often kids swim on their town’s swim team. The problems of swim team are the practices can be long and tiring, and even the meets can take hours. Another inconvenience is the distance families sometimes have to drive for away meets. And then there is the cold water.

Swim Teams

Many towns have swim teams. Swim teams are teams where kids compete in events such as relays and races doing different strokes. Those kids have swim practices several times a week. Almost every weekend they have swim meets where the compete against different towns.

Swimming Injuries

Some common swimming injuries are straining the shoulder and hitting the head against the wall. Straining your shoulder occurs from the repeated motions of regular swimming. Hitting your head can happen if you’re doing backstroke in the water.

Is Swimming Really Fun?

In general, swimming is fun and refreshing. Lots people go swimming in oceans, lakes, pools and ponds all around the world. Knowing how to swim is a very useful skill that can even save your life. 6th grade teacher Brian Reddington says, “ I love swimming because it is so fun you don’t even realize that you’re getting a workout.” These are just some of the facts and reasons people enjoy the awesome sport of swimming.
