Goose Safety

By Phoebe Tausig

In Fall, you may see geese wandering around the fields near the school. However, stay more than 6 feet away from them and do not chase them. Geese may not have teeth, but they are fierce and will attack if provoked. In September, I saw two boys harassing the geese. Please treat the geese with respect, as they are wildlife.

These birds make an incredible journey south for the winter, and our school soccer fields are just one stop on their journey.

They like lawns because the grass is easily digestible and for the wide, unobstructed view of predators. It’s important that we stay far away and let wildlife be wildlife.
