TATE MCRAE

Tate McRae is a popular Canadian music artist who has written 36 singles and 109 songs in total.

Born in Calgary, Alberta, on July 1st 2003, Tate was raised by Tanja Rosner and Todd McRae. Tate moved to Oman at the age of two and lived there for three years. McRae then began recreational dance training at age six and then moved back to Calgary at the age of eight. She continued to show interest in dance and continued to intensively train and later she competed with Drewitz Dance Productions. At age eleven, she began doing all styles of dance at YYC Dance Project which is a dance company owned by her mother. She then continued to put effort into dance, more specifically, ballet, and trained at the School of Alberta Ballet. McRae then attended Western Canada High School and graduated during the pandemic in 2021.

In 2013, McRae was awarded Mini Best Female Dancer of the year. She was also a finalist at the New York City Dance Alliance’s 2014 National Gala. She also voiced Spot Splatter Splash for the Lalaloopsy(2013-2015) franchise. In 2015, Tate was awarded a two-week scholarship at the Berlin State Ballet company after winning the silver medal as a soloist and bronze medal for her duet at the 2015 Youth America Grand Prix. Later, she danced in the music video for Walk off the Earth’s platinum-certified single “Rule the world”. She then, was awarded the Best Female Dancer award at the 2015 Dance Awards, this time in the Junior Category. She then won the Best Female Dancer Award 

When her channel was created in 2011, it primarily focused on dance videos, but in 2017, she decided to switch it up. She began a video series showing some songs she wrote and recorded in her bedroom. The first song she released in the series was “One Day”, which brought in 40 million views: the views prompted her to self-release “One Day” as her independent debut single. The song would later be certified gold in Canada, marking her first certification. 

In 2019, McRae released more singles like, “Tear Myself Apart,” “All My Friends Are Fake,” and “Stupid” which are songs that are still popular six years later. “Stupid” charted in Ireland and Canada, receiving significant radio play in Canada and peaking in the top 15 of Canadian pop music charts. “Stupid” was later certified gold in Canada. McRae then released her debut EP, “All the Things I Never Said,” on January 24, 2020, and announced her tour headlining Europe and North America. Each and every stop on the tour was sold out and the tour received positive reviews.

Now, as of 2025, Tate has released some new songs like “2 Hands”, “It’s OK I’m OK,” and “Miss Possessive” which quickly became popular pop songs. One of her most popular songs, “Revolving Door,” was performed three times! Another one of her most popular songs, “Sports Car,” peaked at number nine on the Canadian Hot 100.
